If you take a trip up the Hwy 98 coastline in Florida's Panhandle you will find a beautiful jewel, Saint Mark's State Park and Lighthouse. It is a must see destination for the nature lover. This picture was taken as the setting sun was shining through the window, highlighting the beautiful colors of my Thanksgiving Day Mums as they sat on the table. They were given to me as a "thank you for the invite" to share a wonderful meal, family and friendship.

This was one of those "in the right place at the right time" shots. This beautiful Luna Moth was just resting its wings long enough for me to snap a couple of shots before it went on its way.

If you ever get the chance to drive around Keyton Beach in Steinhatchee, Florida you will find wonderful sawgrass coves spotting the area. This picture was taken on a very cold afternoon but I am so glad that I took the time to capture the moment.

This photo is a section of an antique crazy quilt that a dear friend's grandmother made her when she was a little girl. Not only is it a family treasure, but this particular section has a very special piece of history sewn into the quilt. It is the original badge or logo, as we call it, for the National Rifle Association. It is dated May 1887.

To me, poinsettias are a beautiful part of the holiday season. Your spirits are always lifted at the majestic sight of them. The mixture of the red and white make for a lovely centerpiece.

and what would Christmas be without the magic of Kris Kringle himself. I love the twinkle in his eye!

Well, it is hard to believe that another year is almost gone. The holiday season is here and we are all busy with last minute details. I would like to wish each of you a wonderful holiday that is filled with friends, family and love.

God Is My Passion

God's beauty surrounds us everyday. We only have to stop and take the time to really see it. The amazing details that God put into every single creation is magnificent! To see this Passion Flower in macro detail is but one example of God's greatness! God could have created our world very basic, colorless and dull, but instead He gave us a world of beauty and detail to explore, if we but open our eyes.

Moonlight Magic

I love to be outdoors late at night, it is my favorite time of the day. I am very fortunate to live in the peaceful countryside of North Florida, where you can still see the stars. Last week, I came home to this beautiful moonlit sky with its popcorn clouds. It really had a wonderful magic all its own. Everything was pitch black except the moon and clouds. I really wondered if I could even begin to capture the beauty that was displayed across the sky. So I took a chance with my new camera and flipped it to the candlelight setting. It worked! What you see here is the image I was able to capture. It truly was a magical night as God's handiwork shown across the sky.

Sight Seeing in Alabama

I love vacation! Even if it is a short one. The middle of October we traveled to West Tennessee via the state of Alabama. We stayed off the Interstate and took the back roads sight seeing all the way! Our best stop was at Little River Falls on SR 35, east of Fort Payne. The leaves where just starting to turn and the weather was great. We drove up the mountain parkway to the top of the gorge. The overlook of the river was breathtaking. As I stood there admiring the view I saw this kayaker disappear into the woods. I thought alright! I can follow him and get some close-up shots. But when I entered the edge of the woods, there where nothing but cliffs and the kayaker had disappeared! A few minutes later I see him and several more making their way down the river and around the rocks. It was truly a sight to see. I am glad it was them and not me! I will stick to my photography.

Down on the Farm

I love when fall is in the air. The nights start turning cooler and the skies are bright blue with beautiful fluffy white clouds. That's how Saturday was. So I grabbed my camera and took a trip to the Dudley Farm Historic State Park just west of Gainesville on SR26. The working farm dates back to the 1850's and is a great "snapping" place.
Old Mr. Tom Turkey was the highlight of my day. Strutting his stuff back and forth between his hens and me. There where flowers galore and plenty to see around every corner. The homestead consists of eighteen buildings, including the family farmhouse with original furnishings. It was a wonderful way to spend my afternoon. My Snappin' Place

When it seems everything in your world has turned upside down, the best thing to do is grab your camera and start shooting!! That's where I found myself today.
My getaway? The banks of the beautiful Suwannee River. I can't think of a better way to right my world then by taking in the beauty of God's world. I drank in the peace & quiet and just clicked away. How About a Bubble Bath!

Life is full of color if you just slow down long enough to see it! While washing some old bottles outside last week, I started to see bites of color in the water. Thousands of tiny bubbles started to form and float around. The sun was just at the right angle to highlight them. I grabbed my camera and started to frame them in the viewfinder. To my amazement, not only was the wide array of colors awesome, if you look real close you can see the reflection of our giant oak tree in the bubbles. God truly loves to create beauty all around us! My Own Back Yard

It always amazes me the beauty you can find right outside your own front door. I just got a new Canon camera and went outside to try it out. What better subject then a multi-color selection of butterflies. They where everywhere! As I was trying out the focus and zoom, I managed to snap this shot. Butterflies are truly amazing creatures. Paddling Down the Santa Fe River

What a wonderful way to spend a Saturday afternoon. I took my first kayak trip! The weather was great, the water was cool and the things to photograph was endless. I am very blessed to live in the North Florida area where clean, freshwater springs and rivers abound. We rented the kayak at Ginnie Springs Outdoors and spent several hours paddling up and down the Santa Fe River and the spring run. I can't wait till my next trip!
